Joe Jonas and their wife of four years, 27-year-old actress Sophie Turner, were spotted out in public two weeks ago, for what might have been their last joint appearance.
Despite reports that the pair are "headed for divorce," the photos showed a relatively civil atmosphere between them.
A body language expert noted how Sophie was dominant in the scenario with her passionate cheering of her husband, who is part of The Jonas Brothers, during their gig in New York.
Judi James shared a telling visual of the relationship between Joe Jonas and the "Game of Thrones" star with The Mirror.
While walking together, she noted how Sophie closed the gap between them by lifting Joe's hand to her face and gently kissing it. Her sights were set beyond him as she gazed into the distance rather than meeting his gaze.
The expert has noted that the images of the couple taken shortly before reports of their separation suggest far more camaraderie than romantic love.
Judi suggests that although a kiss on the cheek is usually seen as an act of fondness and devotion, another message can be conveyed when the person receiving the kiss does not look into the eyes of their partner.
"By averting her gaze," Judi says, "it could easily be taken as a kiss goodbye."
Judi muses: "Although it might signify a friendly separation, there is no denying that this traditional chivalry carries a sense of finality. It certainly has the feel of something out of 'Game Of Thrones' - an antiquated custom allowing feelings such as love and devotion to linger on--particularly in cases where kids are involved."
Meanwhile, speaking of Joe, Judi explained that the expression on his face would indicate something shy, almost bashful.
His happy reaction to his wife's physical display of affection was evident, said Judi, and he didn't say anything in response, instead letting their fingers intertwine. Had they been walking hand-in-hand with their digits interwoven before this kiss, it would have marked them out as still being a very loving couple.
Rumors have swirled that Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner are parting ways, but from how they interact in the picture the actress shared on her Instagram, it appears they intend to remain friendly and continue to leave the possibility of a reunion later in life as an option.
Judi said that their demeanor speaks volumes about their commitment to stay on good terms despite circumstances.
