Released just eight months before the untimely death of Kurt Cobain, "In Utero" by the band Nirvana marked not only the end of a musical era but is often overlooked.

Though it might not be the classic that "Nevermind" was, Nirvana's "In Utero" is a bold and emotional example of rock music.

Featuring some of Kurt Cobain's most powerful songs, it is a magnificent work in its own right.

On October 27, 2023, Billboard reported that Universal is releasing the 30th-anniversary edition of an album. Featuring 72 tracks, 53 of which have never been released, this package comes with all the songs from the record and two full concerts from its supporting tour.

In addition to live show recordings from Los Angeles and Seattle, listeners will be treated to six extra tracks recorded at Springfield, New York, and Rome shows. Notably, the performance from Rome is taken from one of the last ever concerts by this band, a broadcast which has been much circulated as bootlegs over the years.

This year has seen a reconstruction of the live tracks from stereo soundboard tapes, headed by experienced producer and engineer Jack Endino. Endino famously produced Nirvana's 1988 debut album "Bleach."

Furthermore, with Bob Weston at Chicago Mastering Services, who worked alongside Albini during the original recording sessions, twelve songs from the album have been newly mastered from analog tapes. This remaster also includes five bonus tracks and B-sides.

One-of-a-kind, Super Deluxe Edition box sets come with special items that any fan would appreciate.

These include an acrylic panel featuring an angel, representing this album's trademark; a 48-page hardcover book full of previously unseen photos; a 20-page newly designed fanzine; and a Los Angeles tour poster lithograph created by hot rod artist Coop.

Additionally, fans will get replicas of 1993 record store promo Angel mobiles, three gig flyers, two ticket stubs for Los Angeles and Seattle shows, an All-Access tour laminate, as well as four cloth sticky tour backstage passes: Press, Photo, After Show and Local Crew.

uDiscovermusic.com and SoundofVinyl.com have an exclusive offer limited to 3000 units worldwide. Both Super Deluxe Edition box sets come with a unique angel-on-acrylic panel and a Nirvana acrylic stand for display purposes.

In a release bursting with new material, 8LP Super Deluxe offers 180-gram pressings of an album plus 5 B-sides & bonus tracks newly remastered from 96kHz 24-bit transfers of its original analog master tapes.

Listeners can enjoy two concerts - from Los Angeles in 1993 and Seattle in 1994 - plus six extra live songs from that era, for a total of 72 tracks, 53 of which have never been released.

As a special treat, fans will receive a host of exclusive items:

  • The Angel-on-acrylic panel
  • A 48-page book with never-before-seen photographs
  • An all-new 20-page fanzine
  • Lithograph of the Los Angeles gig poster
  • Two authentic ticket stubs
  • Replica of the promotional Angel mobile and three gig flyers
