The 2023 MTV Video Music Awards just wrapped up and despite anticipation that Miley Cyrus would take home at least one award, she went home with nothing.
Cyrus has been nominated for six categories at the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards, including Video of the Year.
Miley Cyrus Snubbed at 2023 VMAs
It was quite a bummer for Miley Cyrus fans that she went home with no moonpersons this year at the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards.
She was nominated for six moonpersons this year - including Album of the Year, Video of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Pop, Best Cinematography, and Best Editing - all for "Endless Summer Vacation," "Flowers," and "River."
Similar artists who have received six nominations like Cyrus went home with only one award. Nicki Minaj won Best Hip-Hop for "Super Freaky Girl," Doja Cat won Best Art Direction for "Attention," and Olivia Rodrigo won Best Editing for "Vampire."

Miley Cyrus at the VMAs
Miley Cyrus has had a huge history with the MTV Video Music Awards. Notably, she had the entire global shocked when she twerked on Robin Thicke onstage while performing "Blurred Lines."
To date, Miley has been nominated 19 times, but she only won thrice. In 2014, she took home Video of the Year for "Wrecking Ball" and Best Art Direction and Best Editing for "Mother's Daughter." She has also been nominated for Best New Artist, Best Song of the Summer, Best Collaboration, Best Power Anthem, and even Best Female Video in the past.
Sadly, this year, Miley failed to take home any. Notably, it wasn't Miley Cyrus who left home without any moonpersons.
2023 MTV VMAs Snubs
According to Billboard, Miley Cyrus wasn't the only one snubbed at this year's music's most iconic night.
Sam Smith and Kim Petras, who were both nominated for five awards this year, including Video of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Visual Effects, Best Art Direction, and Best Choreography, failed to take home any moonpersons. Neither of them attended the show either.
One would have assumed that a global artist like Bad Bunny would have received any moonpersons already. Sadly, it is his sixth consecutive year where he has been nominated but also failed to take home any award.
