NSYNC caused quite a stir at the MTV Video Music Awards when they got together on stage to present an award.

The show witnessed a surprise reunion that left the iconic 90s band's fans in a state of frenzy.

Justin Timberlake, Lance Bass, Chris Kirkpatrick, JC Chasez, and Joey Fatone made an appearance together at the start of the show to present an award. Their reunion has sparked speculation about potential big news.

As anticipation was building with fans of NSYNC had their fingers crossed that the group would take the stage and make some announcements.

However, when nothing happened, those loyal to the late 90s/early 00s pop sensation flocked to social media to vent their disappointment, according to The Sun.

Many took to X/Twitter to voice their frustration when it became apparent that the NSYNC reunion occurring within the MTV award ceremony was simply a plug for the new "Trolls" movie.

"This is a SCAM award [show]," commented one user, expressing why they had boycotted MTV in earlier years.

Expressions of frustration emerged on the platform further after @nsync failed to take the stage to sing some of their iconic songs.

One user wrote, "The fact that @nsync did not perform has me extremely disappointed and regretting my decision to stay up past 10 pm." A second echoed this sentiment, stating, "So I sat through 4 hrs of VMAs waiting for NSYNC to perform??"

Leading up to the award show this past Tuesday, there was much speculation that NSYNC would reunite but it wasn't known if they would even perform.

The band also reunited in 2013 when Justin accepted the MTV VMA Video Vanguard Award. While it had been years since their official split in 2007, fans were excited to see them take the stage together again.

In 2018, NSYNC made headlines when their five founding members reunited to commemorate the group's star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Shortly afterward, news spread that this reunion wasn't just a one-off event but possibly related to the release of promotional materials for Trolls Band Together, part of the popular Trolls franchise.
