Fans have been supporting Teyana Taylor and her husband Iman Shumpert for years as they have been public about their family life throughout their marriage, that's why online users were shocked when the singer announced her split from her partner; what happened?
The musician took to her official Instagram account to reveal that she and the NBA superstar have been separated after seven years of marriage.
She posted a photo of them together where they appeared to be wearing costumes. Although the photo was adorable, users were saddened over the explanation that Taylor wrote in the caption.

"Iman and I are separated and have been for a while," she confirmed.
Before fans speculate about the reason behind their split, the singer made the first move and reveal that infidelity was not one of the reasons why they decided to separate.
Even though they already split, Taylor noted that she will continue to have a great relationship with the athlete.
"We are still the best of friends, great business partners and are one hell of a team when it comes to co-parenting our 2 beautiful children," she added.
Teyana Taylor Announces Separation From Iman Shumpert Because of Different Narratives
Teyana Taylor later revealed that they have been keeping their separation from the public because it's the only reason they would successfully and peacefully split "without all the outside noise."
However, the singer later explained that they announced it to the world because "the narratives are getting a little out of hand" and it's unfair to everyone involved.

In a 2014 interview with VladTV, the "Rose in Harlem" hitmaker revealed that she first met Shumpert after he was drafted into the NBA in 2011.
The basketball player tried to talk to her, but was unsuccessful as she was not interested at the time because she was in a relationship. (via People Magazine)
In 2013, they were able to be reunited when the singer found out that he underwent knee surgery and she stepped in and took care of him. That was the time when their romantic relationship was formed.
The couple later had a child in 2015 and got secretly married a few months after. They later had a second baby in 2020.
