The National is back.

The five-membered band is a gift that just keeps on giving because after releasing their tenth studio album, "Laugh Track," they surprised fans with another song titled "Deep End."

On top of that, The National also thrilled their Australian fans by announcing that they will be heading toward the land of Down Under in 2024, after many years.

The new song has the following lyrics: "I can't stop myself from thinking about you all the time / I'm always trying to tune you out but I'm gonna let you in tonight / When the sound of your voice comes through it's hardly there / But it's all I care about."

The National's New Album

"Laugh Track" is The National's second album roll out in 2023 alone. They dropped "First Two Pages of Frankenstein" in April, and before that, their eighth studio album, "I Am Easy to Find" was released in 2019.

The new album, despite boasting a set of star-studded collaborators, like Bon Iver, Phoebe Bridgers, and Rosanne Cash, was still lacking, as per the fans' comments on Stereogum.

"It is another dull offering," a listener wrote. "I genuinely struggle to understand what they think they are offering up with tracks like 'Laugh Track,' 'Hornets,' 'Coat on a Hook,' 'Tour Manager.' They all have the exact same texture and that is the same as any number of other recent tracks."

"[...] This album is a yawn, and I have no intention of being one of those "it's their best album since Trouble Will Find Me" every time they release a new album self-deluded types."

On the other hand, some noted that "Laugh Track" is better than "First Two Pages of Frankenstein," but overall not good enough.

"Sounds better than 'Frankenstein' - yes the drums are back - but a similarly dull listen. Too many forgettable mid-tempo dirges that drown out the few highlights. Seem like a shadow of the band that produced rich, propulsive records like 'Boxer' and 'High Violet.'"
