Shakira is out for revenge.

In her latest music video, the Princess of Latin Pop mentioned the nanny that her ex-partner Gerard Pique once reportedly dismissed without remuneration, seemingly taking a jab at her ex.

Shakira's new song, "El Jefe" or in English, "The Boss," saw her collaborate with Lili Melgar, who assisted in raising her two sons with the footballer.

The track is sung in Spanish, accompanied by the Mexican band Fuerza Regida.

Making an unexpected appearance in the music video, Lili also got a name-check from Shakira during the song with the lyrics: "Lili Melgar. This song is for you, they didn't compensate you."

Those familiar with the situation know that Lili had been dismissed without recompense after confiding to Shakira about her husband's potential dishonesty.

It was confirmed last summer that after 12 years together, Shakira, 46, and Gerard, 36, had ended their relationship.

Despite denying any infidelity on his part, Gerard has since moved on to a new romance with the 23-year-old Spaniard Clara Chia Marti, who bears a striking resemblance to Shakira.

Shakira has a history of using her music to address issues related to her former partner since their breakup. This can be seen in her collaboration with Bizarrap, where the lyrics "I'm worth two 22s" are said as an apparent reference towards Clara, who was 22 when it is thought she began a romance with Gerard.

It appears that Shakira was voicing her support for female solidarity.

Few months ago, Shakira boldly told Mexican journalist Enrique Acevedo: "There is a place reserved for women who do not stand behind other women."

To further emphasize her point, the star posted an Instagram video singing SZA's song "Kill Bill," mouthing "I might kill my ex."

Though the pair may have separated, Gerard and Shakira continue with their lives; Gerard with their sons Milan and Sasha, and Shakira linked to Canadian rapper Drake after they were seen at a gathering together.

Additionally, it has been suggested that she is dating Formula One racing driver Lewis Hamilton.

Having been awarded full custody of her two children, the catalyst for a new start in the US, Miami is now home to Shakira. Joining her family members already based there, her former partner Gerard has remained in Barcelona.
