Rage is the emotion felt by Lionel Richie upon learning that Diana Ross ignored his requests to collaborate but then made an appearance for Beyoncé.

The former Commodores fame and with record sales beyond 100 million was reportedly unhappy when his former duet partner declined an invitation to perform their 1981 smash hit "Endless Love."

Instead, they chose to attend a birthday celebration for Beyoncé, which didn't sit well with Lionel.

At a City by the Bay show, a septuagenarian vocalist made a caustic speech targeted at Ross, leaving the audience flabbergasted.

Lionel told the audience, "[For] 37 years Diana said no [to singing the song]. What made you think tonight she would show up to the show? She ain't coming."

"She's over there singing Happy Birthday to Beyoncé! Pissing me off!"

Lionel unleashed a torrent of criticism and, in the process, cast off Beyoncé. It seems Diana's choice not to team up with him for their San Francisco show stirred up more than just annoyance for the R&B singer - likely due to its considerable nostalgia factor.

A source said that when Lionel left the Commodores, he had no idea "Endless Love" would be a massive hit.

The smash hit song was an instant success, but the only time Lionel Richie and Diana Ross performed it together was at the 1982 Academy Awards. This would be their sole collaboration for this beloved ballad.

Despite appearing amused in public, it is said that the National Enquirer has heard from an insider that behind closed doors, there is no mistaking that the relationship between Diana and her ex-boyfriend, Lionel, is currently far from amicable.

According to a reliable source, Lionel thought he warranted recompense from Diana since "he was responsible for creating a hit track which was beneficial to her as well."

Though he was rocking the stage in San Francisco, fans from Los Angeles were similarly enthralled by Beyonce's "Renaissance" show on September 4.

It was a stellar performance and coincided with the "Drunk in Love" singer turning 42 - making it an even more memorable occasion.

On Beyoncé's birthday, two of music's most renowned female vocalists surprised spectators by coming together on stage.

Diana sang a memorable tune to commemorate her friend and colleague while Lionel watched from afar with a tinge of envy.

Attendees couldn't believe their eyes as they witnessed this extraordinary event unfold.

Nevertheless, caution should be practiced when interpreting this report. Therefore, it is wise to exercise skepticism when considering the findings.
