Headlined by Lauryn Hill and the Fugees, the charity festival managed to rake in a huge $240 million for its advocacies!

Fugees Reunion at Global Citizen Festival 2023

Composed of Lauryn Hill, Wyclef Jean, and Pras Michel, the hotly-anticipated reunion of Fugees was well received at the Global Citizen Festival 2023 in New York last weekend.

She performed hits from her career and genre-defining album, "Miseducation of Lauryn Hill," including "Everything Is Everything" and "Doo Wop (That Thing)." Wyclef Jean and Pras Michael joined her in performing "Ready or Not," "Fu-Gee-La," and "Killing Me Softly.

Lauryn Hill is embarking on a 25th Anniversary Tour of "Miseducation of Lauryn Hill."

Jungkook and Latto performed their song "Seven," Red Hot Chili Peppers, Stray Kids, Annitta, and a tag-team HipHop 50 performance from Busta Rhymes, Common, Big Daddy Kane, Rapsody, D-Nice, also rocked the crowd.

The 2023 Global Citizen Festival Earnings

The 2023 Global Citizen Festival was a hit as it raked in $240 million from France and Norway to the International Fund for Agricultural Development to address the global hunger crisis. (via Variety)

"At a time when some leaders are walking back their promises, your actions deliver impact. So don't stop taking action. Climate change can't hit pause while world leaders get their act together. So don't stop. The poorest people on Earth don't have decades to spare. So don't stop. We can't wait for someone else to take action. We have to take action NOW." Global Citizen Co-Founder and CEO Hugh Evans said in a statement.

The 2023 Global Citizen Festival has earned a $150 million commitment to the International Fund for Agricultural Development from France President Emmanuel Macron and Norway's Minister of International Development Anne Beathe Tvinneriem pledged $90 million.

Meanwhile, the Government of Belgium committed €2 million to the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Supplies Program, which fills in initiatives and programs for sexual and reproductive health program.

In addition, the Ireland Taoiseach Leo Varadkar promised to provide €149 million in climate financing in 2023 and has agreed to give €225 million annually from 2025 onwards.

In protecting the Amazon Rainforest, the Brazilian Government has pledged to extend its protection of the said wonder by 1 million hectares by 2025.
