The Writers Guild of America (WGA) has finally reached an agreement with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) as they end their 146-day strike in Hollywood.

Because of this, it has been reported that some of the syndicated talk shows, hosted by singer-hosts, and some late-night talk shows, could return to television before the year ends.

WGA Strike Update

According to Variety, the WGA has already struck a deal with the AMPTP. Described as "exceptional" by the WGA Negotiating Committee, the said agreement isn't yet final as the details of the new contract should be voted on first by the leadership both by the WGA West and WGA East council, which would cover the livelihood of 11,000 WGA members in the country.

"We can say, with great pride, that this deal is exceptional - with meaningful gains and protections for writers in every sector of the membership," the committee said in an email. "To be clear, no one is to return to work until specifically authorized to by the Guild. We are still on strike until then."

Meanwhile, the strike efforts have been lifted since Sunday, and everything will be voted on by Tuesday.

Following the achievement of the new deal, this leaves the Screen Actors Guild - American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) as the sole remaining guild on strike. Many predict that they will be the next one to secure a new deal with the AMPTP.

"SAG-AFTRA congratulates the WGA on reaching a tentative agreement with the AMPTP after 146 days of incredible strength, resiliency, and solidarity on the picket lines. While we look forward to reviewing the WGA and AMPTP's tentative agreement, we remain committed to achieving the necessary terms for our members," SAG-AFTRA said, congratulating the WGA.

"The Talk," "The Drew Barrymore Show," "The Jennifer Hudson Show" and "The Kelly Clarkson Show," are all pending its return. Meanwhile, Deadline reports that "Saturday Night Live" can also return next month, but since the SAG-AFTRA has yet to secure a contract - the casting is still on the rocks.
