Nirvana kept Kurt Cobain and Dave Grohl closer. Although they were friends, the late musician was reportedly jealous of the Foo Fighters lead singer and guitarist.

Thirty years after Nirvana dropped "In Utero," fans will receive new editions of the material starting October 27. The band's official biographer, Michael Azerrad, will also offer them a gift on October 24 through an official biography of the group.

The upcoming deluxe edition of "Come as You Are: The Story of Nirvana," is titled "The Amplified Come As You Are: The Story of Nirvana."

Ahead of the publication, the author appeared in a new interview and shared the story behind Cobain and Grohl's relationship.

Why Was Kurt Cobain Jealous of Dave Grohl?

During his appearance on "Rolling Stone's Music Now" podcast, he quoted Cobain's description of Grohl's guitar riff to "In Utero" track "Scentless Apprentice" as "boneheaded."

According to Azerrad, the late musician's statement was "a little condescending," while writer Brian Hiatt also recalled the time Cobain called his bandmate "the most well-adjusted boy in the whole world."

"I think Kurt partly was mocking Dave for being fairly together, and normal," Azerrad added. "He's a popular, well-adjusted guy, he really is. And I think partly Kurt was making fun of that because he wasn't a freak, like Kurt. And he also was jealous."

The author explained that Cobain's jealousy was seemingly rooted in the fact that Grohl had his act together.

Grohl also shared the story in a 2021 interview with Vulture
