More recently, an updated version of his net worth has been revealed to the public and it's apparent that he made a huge amount of money, but what's surprising is that the majority of it didn't come from his earnings as a musician; how did this happen?

According to a new report published by Forbes, the legendary singer's net worth was estimated to be around a billion dollars at the time of his death earlier this month.

The outlet noted that he earned roughly over $570 million through the years as a performer and his entire music catalog was valued at $50 million.

Jimmy Buffett has been declared a billionaire but his money didn't come directly from his earnings in the music industry.

According to Taste of Country, the singer was also a businessman as he launched his brand called Margaritaville in 1985.

The company initially sold t-shirts, merchandise, and other memorabilia before he later expanded and ventured out in to the world of hospitality.

Prior to his death, the singer was able to establish several restaurants, resorts, home decor, margarita mixes, and many more.

The world was shocked upon finding out about the death of Jimmy Buffett as he was beloved and praised by fans from all around the world for decades.

Unfortunately, the music icon passed away in September 1, 2023, after battling skin cancer. He reportedly had Merkel cell cancer, which is a rare illness. He was 76 years old.

"Jimmy passed away peacefully on the night of September 1st surrounded by his family, friends, music and dogs... He lived his life like a song till the very last breath and will be missed beyond measure by so many," the announcement on his official website reads.

In recent news, his wife, Jane Slagsvol, broke her silence weeks after the singer died.

In a letter posted on the official Facebook page of Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Reefers, the wife said it was hard for them over the past few years, but they were able to overcome it as they were brave.

She also noted that whenever they go, even in hospitals, they were surrounded by love and she wanted to express her gratitude to those people who showed kindness.
