Ice Spice is pressed to win the Grammy Award for Best New Artist in 2024 because of her meteoric rise to success in the past year.

From being an underground rapper in New York, to securing a collaboration with Nicki Minaj twice, and once with Taylor Swift - she might be perhaps the biggest new artist in the past few years.

Ice Spice, Taylor Swift Friendship

Everyone was taken aback when Taylor Swift, who rarely collaborated with other artists, announced "Karma (Remix)" with Ice Spice.

The collaboration had Swifties and Munchies on their toes, as it was quite unprecedented. Ice Spice was the first female rapper that Taylor Swift has collaborated with since her career blossomed.

The feature landed Ice Spice her highest-charting song on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart with No. 2.

In an interview with Variety, Ice Spice talked about how she landed the "Karma (Remix)" with Taylor Swift.

"What I took away from Taylor's documentary is you really do need to work hard, and not everything is going to be as easy as it seems," Ice Spice revealed. "And my manager heard me talking about that and had reached out to her team, and then they had a song for me."

In return, Swift spoke fondly of Ice Spice in the same article.

Relating to Ice Spice in "many" ways, Swift said that it was the young rapper's dedication that blew her away from the very start.

"She's extremely professional without being cold. Playful and fun without ever taking her eye off the prize. She knows what is and isn't 'her' and sets those boundaries with grace. She studies the industry and other artists' careers but is very clear about charting her own definitive, original path. It's her ability to carefully find that balance that impresses the hell out of me," Swift raved.

Ice Spice, Nicki Minaj Friendship

Nicki Minaj, the Queen of Rap, has crowned Ice Spice as her Princess in their smash collaboration, "Princess Diana," which earned Ice Spice another Top 10 hit, as the track reached No. 4.

In the same interview with Variety, Ice Spice still has some pinch-me moments.

"Sometimes I just wake up and I'm like, 'I'ma text Taylor' or 'I'ma text Nicki.' And then they be answering and I'm like, 'Wow, that really makes me feel like that girl, for real,'" she admits. "Them supporting me and just encouraging me gives me all the motivation I need."

Ice Spice and Nicki Minaj's partnership has been a success as their "Barbie" hit "Barbie World" is still standing strong at No. 12 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts since it was released in June 2023.
