Happy birthday, Gwen Stefani!

Gwen Stefani Bio

Gwen Renee Stefani was born on October 3, 1969 in Fullerton, California. Stefani started to show her passion for and talent in music at the age of 17. As per All Music, Gwen began to embrace her love for music when her brother Eric always played the records of Madness and Selecter at home. After Gwen saw the live performances of Fishbones, the Untouchables, and other bands that were present in the Los Angeles' ska revival music business, the aspiring singer all the more became determined to pursue a career in music.

Of course, Gwen immediately accepted her brother's invitation for her to join the ska band he was forming with friend, John Spence at this point in time.

How Gwen Stefani Started Her Music Career

The ska band mentioned above that Gwen Stefani joined in was later named No Doubt. John Spence and Gwen originally joined forces together to provide vocals for the band. In December 1987, though, Spence departed the band after he committed suicide. Word has it that Gwen Stefani was the source of strength that kept No Doubt together during such a difficult time.

After having generated multiple music projects, No Doubt signed on with Interscope records in 1991. The 1992 debut album of the group, though, didn't fare well on the charts and market sales. Gwen and brother Eric went through other professional and personal issues thereafter. Time allowed the two musicians to get past these issues, and finally succeeded in their music careers.

Gwen eventually pursued a solo music career, and her solo debut album, "Love.Angel.Music.Baby" was released in November 2004.
