As Music Times previously reported, the Disney company is looking to essentially sink the Deadmau5 brand by alleging that the DJ has committed trademark infringement via his renowned stage mask, an electronic mouse head that vaguely resembles the company's Mickey Mouse head logo (we emphasize "vaguely"). Deadmau5 is looking to kill the suit where it stands by bringing his own cease-and-desist suit against Disney according to Rolling Stone

The frequent tweeter posted a link on his Twitter account to a page off of Disney's video website titled "Ghosts 'n' Stuff Re-Micks," which features a clip described as "Enjoy a spooky cartoon Re-Micks to the tune of Deadmau5's 'Ghosts 'n' Stuff.'" Deadmau5 made it known that he didn't approve use of the track.

"OK, mouse, I never gave Disney a license to use my track," he said, tweeting an image of an actual cease-and-desist letter. ""So now, Disney is illegally using my work, and confusing people that I'd actually work with these t--ts."

He signed off with the ever subtle message "have a magical f-----g day."

He managed to send a more subtle version of the message via his legal team.

"Accordingly, not only is Disney violating the rights of Zimmerman (Joel Zimmerman, the DJ's legal name), but it is also infringing upon the rights of EMI Music Publishing Limited, Virgin Records Limited and Ultra Records, LLC," the statement says. "Disney prominently features the Deadmau5 Mark next to the Infringing Video, implying a non-existent endorsement by Zimmerman."

Indeed, the Disney company will probably fear the legal wrath of the record labels involved over that of Deadmau5 so it was a clever ploy.

We'll see if the two parties come to actual legal blows.
