Usher Bio 

Usher Terry Raymond IV (known professionally as Usher) was born on October 14, 1978 in Dallas, Texas. Usher grew up mostly in the area of Chattanooga, Tennessee. The singer made the decision to move to Atlanta to pursue a career in music. As a teen, Usher already became a music hit sensation with his first charting single called, "Call Me a Mack" (1993) was released, as per All Music. 

How Usher Started His R & B Music Career 

Usher was discovered in the music industry when a representative from La Face A & R saw him perform on Star Search. The then-14 year old Usher auditioned for L.A. Reid, La Face's co-founder. Usher, at the time, was a gospel choir boy who successfully signed a record contract with La Face A & R. 

Usher's debut single was a song from the soundtrack of the film, "Poetic Justice," "Call Me a Mack." This song climbed atop on the number 56 spot of the Billboard's R & B/hip-hop chart. 

Usher Hits, Accomplishments, and Accolades 

In 1994, a debut album of the same name was released that featured co-executive producer, Sean "Puffy" Combs. The lead single off this album, "Think of You" eventually turned out to be certified gold. Usher collaborated with teen music idol, Monica for a remake version of the song, "Let's Straighten It Out" by Latimore. 

After having graduated from high school, Usher released his sophomore album called, "My Way" in 1997. Usher co-wrote six out of the nine songs in the said album. The co-writing collaboration was completed with the help of producers, Jermaine Dupri, Babyface, and Sean "Puffy" Combs. The lead single off "My Way", "You Make Me Wanna" topped the Billboard R & B chart for 11 weeks. It reached the number two spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. It didn't take long for "You Make Me Wanna" to become certified double platinum. The other singles off the same album, "My Way" and "Nice and Slow" were both certified platinum, as well. 

For 2023, Usher released a falsetto ballad single called, "GLU". Towards the latter part of this year, it was announced that the R & B singer would be the headlining halftime performer at the Superbowl VLIII.

Usher's Music Career Milestone 2023 

As per Billboard, Usher recently snagged a spot on the top 10 of Billboard's Hot R & B/Hip-Hop songs chart. It's the first time in seven years that Usher's single, "Good Good" featuring Summer Walker and 21 Savage has climbed up to the number seven from the eleven spots for the list released, dated October 14.
