Arguably every artist's goal is to perform at one of the biggest music and sports events in the world-the Super Bowl Halftime show; or at least that is what everyone initially thought, until Imagine Dragons' frontman Dan Reynolds came into the picture.

"We did have talks about Super Bowl stuff with Super Bowl people," revealed Reynolds during his appearance at SiriusXM's "The Jess Cagle Show with Julia Cunningham."

Imagine Dragons, along with U2, The Killers, and Taylor Swift were among the forerunners that were seriously considered to headline the upcoming Super Bowl halftime show, reports say.

The highly coveted spot is now occupied by Usher, who is set to perform at the 2024 Super Bowl, which came as a surprise to some because netizens never even considered him in the first place.

Other stars who performed at the Super Bowl Halftime show include some of the world's biggest stars: Rihanna, Katy Perry, Beyonce, Lady Gaga, Michael Jackson, Madonna, Dr. Dre, Diana Ross, and more.

Imagine Dragons' Serious Requirement

Unlike the other artists aforementioned, Reynolds pointed out that Imagine Dragons is a band that prioritizes their instruments and playing live over the "theatrics."

"Until I know that we can perform in the way that we want and our instruments can be playing live, we're never gonna play the Super Bowl," the frontman said. "And that's my honest answer to you."

As per Reynolds, one of the reasons why they have decided on this is because it is something that has worked for the band throughout the years, and is yet to fail them.

"We have a very specific way that we perform and we've been really lucky to stick to our guns for this many years and perform in that way."

Dan Reynolds Shades The Super Bowl?

While Reynolds' response seems like a jab and a shade towards the Super Bowl and the past performers, he clarified that that is not the case, "no hate on the Super Bowl," he noted.

"If you're a band, it's just a different thing. You gotta have live drums, you gotta have, you know, live guitar. And that's a non-starter for us."

Meanwhile, Reynolds still holds his fans' opinions to a high degree and still respects their wishes. For now, though, they would have to wait and see if Imagine Dragons would one day headline the Super Bowl.
