Jay-Z finally revealed the meaning of Blue Ivy's name.
On Friday, October 27, Jay-Z spoke with CBS Morning and revealed a surprising fact about his and Beyoncé's daughter. Far from what the fans' theory suggested that Blue Ivy Carter's name came from his "Blueprint" album series, the patriarch revealed a different story.
Meaning of Blue Ivy Carter's Name Revealed
Jay-Z revealed that Blue Ivy almost had a different name, but the couple came up with it after seeing the sonogram.
The 53-year-old "Empire State Of Mind" then revealed that their daughter's name was supposed to be "Brooklyn."
"That was the name we had in theory, but when we got the sonogram, it was super small and we was calling her blueberry," he revealed to Gayle King. "Like, 'Look at the little blueberry!' It was a nickname. For nine months, we were like, 'Look at the little blueberry,' so it was natural. We just took the 'berry' off and called her Blue."
Meanwhile, he did not disclose where the Ivy came from. However, fans have long suggested it came from their shared birthday - number 4.

Jay-Z Is Proud of His Performer Daughter
Elsewhere in the interview, the "On to the Next One" rapper applauded his daughter's performance of "My Power" with Beyoncé. He said seeing his now-11-year-old daughter conquer the stage made him "super proud."
Jay-Z added that he still gets goosebumps whenever he sees Blue Ivy on stage, as she was born into "a life she did not ask for."
The "Young Forever" rapper added, "Since she was born, she's been under scrutiny, in public eye and having an opinion of even a little girl how she keeps her hair, so for her to be on that stage to reclaim her power and the song is called 'My Power,' you can't write a better script."
Blue Ivy has been joining her mom's Renaissance World Tour ever since the trek started. Fans took to social media to applaud her evolution as her dancing skills reportedly improved.
One said, "Watching her confidence grow throughout the tour has made me so proud! She's improves so much."
"It's so beautiful that Blue allowed beyonce to dance at her concert," another added.
