The developing romance between global music superstar, Taylor Swift and Kansas City Chiefs tight end NFL player, Travis Kelce, has been making buzz out and about in America. All eyes of fans are on the perfect couple for a few months now, as they have been stepping out together publicly appearing as a happy loved-up pair.
Music and sports fans may or may not remember that there had been other female singers and an athelete that dated in the past. In addition to Taylor, below are the other singer/athelete couples that were an item back in the day:
Carrie Underwood and Tony Romo
American Idol winner, Carrie Underwood, and Dallas Cowboys NFL quarterback, Tony Romo, dated in 2006 until the spring of 2007. As per Taste of Country, Underwood and her ex-athelete beau were last seen together walking down the red carpet together at the ACM awards. At a later time, the American Idol champ shared to Esquire that Romo's priority for football over his ex-girlfriend singer caused the split (via Taste of Country).
Coincidentally, Underwood ended up marrying another athelete in 2010, former NHL hockey player, Mike Fisher. The couple share two sons together, Isaiah, 8, and Jacob, 4, as per People magazine.

Jessica Simpson and Tony Romo
Although former teen pop singer, Jessica Simpson, has been noticeably absent from the music scene, she did famously date none other than Tony Romo himself, too! Word has it that Jessica was Tony's crush, even before they dated, as per In Style. The duo finally went on their first date when a mutual friend introduced Tony to Jessica's father, Joe Simpson. Just like Taylor, Jessica was seen cheering on her beau from the stands during an NFL match.
At the time, fans blamed Jessica for being a distraction to Tony whenever he played in NFL matches, and, thus, causing Romo's team to lose in 2008. Jessica depicted the love she had for Romo as the song, "You're My Sunday," off her country music album, "Do You Know" was dedicated to the Dallas Cowboys quarterback. The athlete broke up with Jessica a year and a half into their relationship the day before Jessica's 29th birthday, in July 2009.
Jessica Simpson ended up marrying a man similar to Tony Romo, a former football player named Eric Johnson in 2014. The couple share two daughters, Maxwell, 11 and Birdie, 4, and a son, Ace, 10.
Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce
Finally, more than a decade later, fans are seeing another singer/athlete couple pair up! This time, Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce exhibit another outstanding trait from the other two couples mentioned above-being a tad of years younger!
Word has it that the Kansas City Chiefs tight end tried to give Taylor a friendship bracelet with his number inscribed on it in one of her "The Eras" tour concerts. As per Glamour, though, the footballer failed in his attempt due to the fact that Taylor doesn't talk before or after her live performances. As per Travis, Taylor needed to save her voice for the 44 songs she normally sings in her tour performances.
The duo finally got together when Taylor accepted her now beau's invitation for her to attend or watch a Kansas City Chiefs game last month, on September 24. And since that time on, Taylor and Travis have went on several dates, and have made time to see each other in spite of their busy schedules in different states in the country.
Whether or not the pattern of female singers dating male athletes will be a common occurrence is something fans will find out down the road. We sure love seeing these couples combine their mixed interests in music and sports to produce harmonious relationships together!
