Gucci Mane is having a good week—kind of. On Wednesday he was sentenced to three years and three months in jail for illegally possessing a firearm but the Atlanta judge decided to give him credit for the time he has served since his September 14, 2013 arrest. That's actually kind of amazing because with Gucci Mane's—real name Radric Davislengthy criminal history the judge hearing his case could have easily thrown that proverbial book at him and started that 39 month sentence just this week.

In case you forgot the details, last September Atlanta police responded to a call made by one of the rapper's friends. Upon arrival they found Gucci reeking of weed and waving a Glock while making terrorist threats towards everyone within ear shot. Gucci, as a convicted felon, is not allowed to have firearms in his possession. After his release Gucci will be supervised for three years and has been ordered to seek mental health counseling.

In court last week Gucci's lawyers requested that he serve his time in a West Coast facility that also has a recovery program. At this point Gucci has asked to be transferred so that he can get away from his Atlanta 'distractions' and focus on actually getting better. Could this be a definitive moment in the rapper's life? Up until now Gucci has been as well-known for his acts of violence—such as pushing a woman out of a moving car or that 2005 murder charge that was dropped due to insufficient evidence—as he has been for his lyrical skills. Has he finally decided to get himself together so that this stint in jail is his last lock up? Tell us your thoughts on Gucci's recent sentencing in the comments below!
