Mariah Carey and Molly McNearney, Jimmy Kimmel's wife, planned a midnight practical joke on him.

At two in the morning, the late-night talk show host's bedroom was visited by the Queen of Christmas, Santa Claus, Elves, and her "All I Want for Christmas is You."

"Jimmy, I didn't mean to wake you up, but it's time!" Carey roused Kimmel from a sound slumber with a beautiful whisper.

Furthermore, Mariah, who is being sued for "All I Want For Christmas Is You," is not the only singer that indulges in late-night pranks for the entertainment of her audience.

With the assistance of his wife, Miley Cyrus, Britney Spears, Rihanna, and Dua Lipa have all tricked Kimmel in the middle of the night. "What time is it?" he inquired, bewildered.

"Hit it!" Carey answered while Santa and the elves flung fake snow and rang sleigh bells, and her Christmas classic "All I Want For Christmas Is You" played.

Molly was ecstatic to be playing a practical joke on her spouse, and she joyfully danced while Mariah and her friends sang.

After exiting the restroom and heading downstairs, Kimmel received a t-shirt from Mariah's Christmas collection. He said to the singer wearing a Santa suit, "I'm like laying there and I'm like something smells good."

In a studio conversation, Mariah also discussed the continued popularity of her 1994 single. Because it was the first holiday song she ever composed, she named the song "bananas," and it hits #1 every holiday season. All I wanted was for it to sound like a classic Christmas song since that's what I desire. She remarked, "I just wanted it to be timeless."

Mariah and Kimmel also talked about how Thanksgiving has been eliminated from the equation because the Christmas season now begins the day after Halloween. "We must have Thanksgiving," she reassured Kimmel, "it's the season, darling."

However, Mariah is pleased to oblige the people when they request Christmas songs.

"Everyone was trying to rush the holiday season, so I had to just go with the flow." I kept saying, "Not yet, don't play it yet, why are we playing Christmas songs?"

It appears Mariah Carey does not care about the legal issues she's facing over the song.

Andy Stone, a country music artist, filed a copyright case in a California district court on Wednesday, claiming that Carey and his band, Vince Vance and the Valiants, had plagiarized his song of the same name. According to court documents, Stone withdrew a related complaint for the same music from a federal court in Louisiana last year.

Troy Powers, with whom Stone co-wrote his 1988 rendition of "All I Want for Christmas Is You," was also included in the lawsuit. Later on, it was recorded and made available in 1989. In addition, Sony Music and Universal Music Group are named in the lawsuit, along with Walter Afanasieff, who co-wrote the song with Carey.

The complaint claims that Carey plagiarized the "compositional structure of an extended comparison between a loved one and trappings of seasonal luxury, and further includes several of Plaintiffs' lyrical phrases."
