Jay Weinberg reflected on Slipknot's shocking decision to fire him from the band.

Slipknot announced in a since-deleted social media post that Weinberg was leaving the group after 10 years of playing with the bandmate, adding that it decided to make a creative decision and to part ways with Jay.

The drummer responded to the November 5 statement and revealed that he was actually fired from the band.

Jay Weinberg Is Heartbroken and Blindsided After the Firing

On Saturday, November 11, Weinberg expressed how heartbroken and blindsided he was to learn about Slipknot's decision. He reportedly received a phone call on November 5, though the band's announcement claimed it was him who decided to leave the group.

Despite that, he told his fans that he had been overwhelmed and grateful for the outpouring of love and support he received after the news broke.

"This is not the ending to the journey I'd dreamt of, and committed myself to seeing through - not by a long shot. But, despite the confusion and sadness, there is something that's provided an equal amount of comfort," he wrote. "For many of you reading this: 10 years ago, we weren't yet acquainted. And now, we are. For that, I'm thankful in ways I'll never be able to fully express."

Weinberg also spoke about his love for playing drums and how he would always have a passion for that.

After his "exit," he started looking forward to creating more music as he told everyone that it was not the end of his journey.

Weinberg learned about Slipknot through Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band member and his father, Max. He was then invited to become part of the band after Joey Jordison left in 2013.

Slipknot also said that Jordison left the band, but the drummer issued a statement saying that he did not quit the group. He died in July 2021.

"You're just beginning pal , in life ...one door shuts and another one opens. Life is hills and valleys and you've climbed the mountain to the top," Matt Sorum said. "It's what makes us grateful and as a journeyman drummer myself more will be revealed!! The future is bright for you and all of us , can't wait to see the next adventure !! Rock on Brother."

"I have so much admiration and respect for you, Jay. You are still yet to make the best music of your life. You are young," Green Day's Tre Cool added. "The future is yours for the taking and I'm excited to see what you bring into to the world next! You're truly a special drummer."
