As the year transitions to a new one, Keefe D expects to regain his freedom - or so his family has said.

The alleged killer of Tupac Shakur, whose real name is Duane Davis, is an ex-Los Angeles gang leader who currently awaits trial for the legendary rapper's murder accusation. He is confident that he will be released from custody soon.

Keefe's lawyers are reportedly currently working on an application for his bail, which would permit him to be returned to his house in Henderson, Nevada.

This location is only a 20-minute drive away from the site of the assassination occurring close to the Las Vegas Strip in 1996.

Keefe hopes to be reunited with his wife and son in late December and aims for his application to be heard within a few short weeks. Sources say he will emphasize that he does not pose a risk of running away or having any further ties to illegal activities.

During the court trial hearing this week, a strong show of support came from the accused's family.

At Las Vegas District Court on November 7, the 60-year-old individual was seen in handcuffs and feet shackles. Currently, precautions are being taken to protect this person in custody.

A family associate spoke to The Sun saying: "Keefe wishes to be released on bail as he believes he deserves it."

"His stance is that, 'I am not running anyway or hiding - I want to fight for my freedom, but do it from the comfort of my home.'"

"He has asked his defense team to push forward an application as soon as possible because he would like to be home at Christmas, ideally or at least in the New Year."

A confidant further shared: "Keefe has confidence that his recent behavior and work with law enforcement in Las Vegas may gain him some leniency."

"Over these past years, his actions have proven he is no longer engaging in illegal activity; he had plenty of opportunities to escape when detectives began their investigation, yet he stayed put."

Keefe D Bail

Though authorities raided his home in the summer, he chose to stay with his family and did not try to escape.

He accepted arrest without resistance and has been an obedient inmate since then, but Keefe D strongly desires to be at home while constructing his defense plan. His health condition has been deteriorating lately due to his suffering from colon cancer.

The Clark County District Attorney's office has yet to decide whether or not they will challenge the suspect's plea for bail.

Money will surely be a concern, especially when deciding on the cost. A source close to the case commented: "Although bail may be granted, the price tag associated with that decision could still present an issue." One can only wait and see how everything develops."

Keefe D primarily lived an unassuming lifestyle, but one of the reasons why he did interviews about Tupac was to make a bit of money.

However, it is uncertain what funds are available for his bail; this has been further complicated by his behavior following Metro detectives and a SWAT team raiding his home. The family friend believes this information will be crucial in deciding whether Keefe receives bail.
