Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera launched into pop stardom in the 2000s, essentially shifting and redefining the game for pop stars at the time.

Aguilera famously won the Grammy Award for Best New Artist in 2000, besting Macy Gray, Kid Rock, Susan Tedeschi, and Britney Spears.

Now, Jamie Lynn Spears claims that her older sister was "heartbroken" losing that award to Aguilera.

Britney Spears 'Heartbroken' On Losing Grammy to Christina Aguilera

In a public confession on "I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here!," Jamie Lynn Spears revealed to Sam Thompson that her sister, Britney Spears, was gutted when she lost the award to Christina Aguilera at the 2000 Grammy Awards. (via People Magazine)

"Want to hear about something really embarrassing that happened one time?" Jamie Lynn offered. "It involves my sister. She was up for her first Grammy. It was her and Christina [Aguilera]."

Per Jamie, her sister was "clearly the bigger star" that year as she had "worked her a** off."

"They had MTV camera crews at home watching our family, because it was like a no-brainer, she's winning. And she's there and she lost," she recalled.

Britney was at the Grammys at the time while Jamie was eight years old at the time. She remembered that the entire moment was "crap."

"Christina won it, and by the way remember Christina was wonderfully talented, but that year, I mean come on, let's be honest, 'It's Britney, bitch' like always," she said. "She was really like, 'I don't ever want to go to the Grammys.' She was heartbroken about that because her whole life had been dedicated to winning that."

Did Britney Spears Appear At The Grammys Again?

At the 2000 Grammy Awards, Britney was nominated only for two awards - Best New Artist and Best Pop Vocal Performance for "...Baby One More Time." She lost both, the latter to "I Will Remember You" by Sarah McLachlan.

In 2001, she was nominated for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance for "Oops!... I Did It Again" and the parent album for Best Pop Vocal Album.

It wasn't until 2005 that Britney Spears appeared at the Grammy Awards again to collect her Grammy Award for Best Dance Recording for "Toxic." Despite being a global artist, Britney has only won one Grammy Award.
