It's been confirmed that two of the most celebrated musicians in the music industry, Paul McCartney and Elton John, will be joining the cast of a sequel to "This Is Spinal Tap."

The original rockumentary film, which celebrates its 40th anniversary next year, is set to have a follow-up movie directed by Rob Reiner.

Alongside McCartney and John are Christopher Guest, Michael McKean, and Harry Shearer, all cast members in the 1984 version, per The Mirror.

More Details

Although the release of the sequel to "This Is Spinal Tap" was initially intended for March 2024 to mark its original movie's 40th anniversary, a definitive date has yet to be established.

Filming is planned to begin in February 2024, so viewers must wait a bit longer before seeing it.

Recently, when interviewed on Richard Herring's "Leicester Square Theatre" Podcast about the sequel of a particular movie revealed in May 2022, Reiner shared: "We plan to begin filming at the end of February. Everyone associated with the original is back on board; Paul McCartney and Elton John will join us, along with a few other surprises like Garth Brooks."

He expressed his appreciation for those involved in the first movie: "The only thing that matters when it comes to making a great film is having people who know how to think on their feet."

Discussing the potential for a sequel to NME last May 2022, Reiner admitted that it was never an intended plan until they "started to talk to each other and came up with an idea we think might work."

He continued by expressing his reservations on its likelihood of success: "The bar is incredibly high. We have debated whether or not we should do it given our age."

With a wry smile, he added: "We're all in our 70s. How much time do we have left to have some fun?"

Paul McCartney Personal Affair

This past month marked the twelfth anniversary of the union between Paul McCartney and his wife, Nancy, an occasion that was marked by a loving tribute from the musician himself.

To acknowledge their special day, the Beatles star took to social media to share a heartfelt message along with a heart emoji pierced with an arrow - "Happy anniversary to my lovely wife, Nancy. Let's have a great one - Paul". This news follows on from this sweet gesture.

Reflecting on his relationship with Nancy, Sir Paul attributed the longevity of their romance to dancing together. In his book, "The Lyrics," he wrote that they were always the first out on the floor after a show and highlighted how music inspires them both in motion: "There's no denying it, I really enjoy dancing. It's something my wife Nancy and I are particularly passionate about. Whenever we hear special songs, we can't help but start grooving."
