Charli XCX and George Daniel from The 1975 are heading wedding bells in their future, as they announced their engagement.

According to People Magazine, the "Speed Drive" singer shared the news on her private Instagram by sharing a picture of her engagement ring; she then shared another picture officially announcing the engagement via her official Instagram account the following day.

"Charli XCX and George Daniel f**king for life!!!" The singer wrote on the caption of a carousel of pictures, including a tray of tea with the ring in a box.

The couple's engagement was met with surprise and shock among netizens online. "Since when were they together?" One wrote.

"Girl who tf is that and why is he balding," another added.

While others expressed their excitement and congratulated them, and there were some who brought up Charli XCX's beef with Rina Sawayama.

"I guess she's happy but personally I'd rather be friends with Rina Sawayama than marry that man."

USA Today reports that the couple met in March 2021 when they collaborated on the song "Spinning," and while they were seen a handful of times on dates, it was not until May 2022 that they hard launch their relationship by sharing a couple's picture on Instagram.

Earlier this year, in February, Charli XCX expressed her interest in getting married and settling down: "I want to be wifed up, I want to have a big fat belly with a baby in it. I don't really want to live in the countryside, that's the only lie in that because I love cities.

"But yeah, I'm just so in love right now and I think I'd be a really hot mom ... so why not just put it all into a Caroline Polachek remix, you know?"

While they are not the type of couple who are constantly seen out and about, with paparazzi following them around, they are very proud to share more about their relationship.

Charli XCX Music Changed Because of Fiance George Daniel?

During an interview, the "Boom Clap" singer explained how dating a musician has changed her process in creating music.

"Now that I'm in a relationship with another musician, he's influenced me a lot with his process and how he and his band work," she said in May 2023.

"It's really different to how I work and that has definitely influenced me and my process."
