Britney Spears and her mother Lynne Spears reunited during the singer's 42nd birthday celebration last week, and despite their rocky and tumultuous past, Lynne is trying her best to make amends.

"Her mom does love her. There is no doubt about that," a source told People Magazine about the recent reunion of the two, and added that Spears "is still hurt because she feels her mom could have done more to help her."

The source also added that "Britney can be very stubborn [...] but she has very few friends and really needs to just be with family."

Along with Lynne "really making an effort" to patch things up with the "Oops I Did It Again" singer, she is also "very apologetic" and "takes full blame."

Has Britney Spears Forgiven Her Family?

After 13 years od being held in a conservatorship, which was rumored to be perpetuated by Spears' parents, Jamie and Lynne, the singer has had a hard time opening back up to both her family and to the world.

However, recent reports noted that she and her family have been working towards rebuilding their relationship.

"[...] Britney likes spending time with her," the source added. "They have a complicated relationship, but it seems they both need each other."

The "Toxic" singer also took to Instagram recently to share her reunion with Lynne, she wrote in a post: "My sweet mama showed up at my doorstep yesterday after 3 years.

"It's been such a long time ... with family, there's always things that need to be worked out ... but time heals all wounds !!!"

According to reports, the pair have been bonding and "getting along great."

Britney Spears Rebuilds Relationship With Family

As per Hola!, the only family member Spears has a relatively close connection to is her brother Bryan.

The "If U Seek Amy" singer often refers to her brother as "dad" and "Best friend."

as for her other family members, sister Jamie Lynn and father Jamie Spears, the singer is still estranged from them.

The singer has, on several occasions, come after Jamie Lynn on Instagram. Fans of Spears accuse Jamie Lynn of riding on her sister's coattails.

"Growing up my sister [Britney Spears] became worldwide famous. I guess I just wanna like [prove that] I'm just like worth something," Jamie Lynn said about her upcoming appearance on the reality show, "Special Forces: The Ultimate Test."
