One of the most talked about Hollywood couples over this past summer has to have been Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi. If you listened to the media then you had no choice but to think that these two were on the verge of divorce. Supposedly Ellen is an impossible diva that cheated on Portia while Portia supposedly had given in to her old demons and partied herself right into a 30-day rehab stint. Even Ellen realized she needed to say something and so in the very first monologue of season 12 of her talk show, she decided to take on all of the bad press.

In true comedic fashion Ellen DeGeneres claimed that she is so happily married to her 'beautiful wife' that they enjoyed a European vacation together in spite of the tabloids dissecting their marriage week after week. Usually Ellen will show her audience some photos to document her private journeys but this time around she went the selfie route. Instead of sharing her own photos she grabbed several shots off of Twitter that showed her with various fans while she and Portia traveled Europe. It was a pretty modern twist on the whole how-I-spent-my-summer thing that dates back to when we were all in grade school.

Is Ellen DeGeneres wise to acknowledge the media that has wrecked havoc on her marriage to Portia de Rossi in the most public of ways? Do you think that it's better for celebs to acknowledge the nonsense even in a dismissive way or should they stick to the old rule of not commenting? It makes sense that Ellen would jokingly swing back because making people laugh is what has made her famous but do you think behind closed doors the constant scrutiny stings a bit?
