Rapper Sexyy Red is having a phenomenal year. After bursting on the hip-hop scene with her provocative and fun record, "Pound Town," which received a remix from Nicki Minaj, the St. Louis native has not slowed down.

Her success and hard work earned her a spot on Drake's latest album, For All the Dogs, which she followed up with a 20-city tour. But God wasn't done blessing Red. After releasing her mixtape, Hood Hottest Princess, her song "SkeeYee," produced by Tay-Keith, became one of the most popular songs of the year, especially among college and pro athletes.

The rapper-born Janae Wherry recently spoke with XXL Magazine about her shocking success.

"Whenever I do some s**t, I be shocked," the new rap star admits. "I be like, Damn, so y'all really f**k with me? Because I be thinking I'm just on some me s**t, just doing me. But then once I see how everybody reacting to it, I'm like, I guess I'm spectacular or something."

Elsewhere in the interview, Tay-Keith spoke about Sexyy Red's star quality.

"When Sexyy Red first came, the shock was so crazy that people didn't know how to take it," Tay Keith said. "It's just so clear to everybody that she's really a star. She set the standards and the mold for female artists so differently nowadays."

"SkeeYee" is currently No. 62 on Billboard Hot 100, and "Rich Baby Daddy," a song from Drake's For All the Dogs on which Red is featured on, peaked at No. 11 on the Billboard Hot 100.
