Shakira thanked her hometown of Barranquilla, Colombia, for recognizing her with a bronze statue in her likeness that is 21 feet tall.
In response to the significant professional achievement, the 46-year-old diva shared pictures of her parents, William Mebarak Chadid and Nidia del Carmen Ripoll Torrado, posing in front of the enormous sculpture on Tuesday.
"It makes me happy to share this with my parents and especially my mother on her birthday," she captioned her Instagram post. "This is too much for my little heart."
The statue is located by the water in Barranquilla, the city where she was born and reared. It features her bouncing her hips like she did in the famous Hips Don't Lie music video from 2005, wearing a bikini top and flowing skirt.
The monument bears the following dedication: "A heart that composes, hips that do not lie, an unmatched talent, a voice that moves masses and feet that march for the good of children and humanity."
The achievement follows a difficult few years that saw her father hospitalized twice in 2022 and the breakup of her 11-year relationship with Gerard Piqué.
The Waka Waka hitmaker criticized Spanish authorities last month for allegedly singled out "high-profile individuals" after receiving a £6.4 million fine for financial crimes in addition to a £15 million tax debt.
Shakira received a seven-figure fine as part of an agreement that spares her from jail time and ends the protracted fraud trial in Barcelona before it even gets started.
With an estimated net worth of £240 million, the singer maintained her innocence while stating that she had chosen to "spare my children witnessing their mother compromise her well-being."
She stated in a statement, "I admire tremendously those who have fought these injustices to the end, but for me, today, winning is getting my time back for my kids and my career."
She further attacked the Spanish government for their pursuit of her, claiming that her case was no different from others in which the government went for "athletes and other high-profile individuals."
She stated that these cases deplete 'those people's energy, time, and peace of mind for years on end.'
As part of the agreement made in court today, the singer will receive a fine of £6.4 million (€7.3 million) for the six tax fraud offenses she admitted to. This is less than one-third of what the prosecution had requested.
