Kelly Clarkson might be one of the most successful musicians to this day as she has her talk show, millions of fans worldwide, and has already sold countless records globally, but the early days of her career were completely different as she started almost from nothing; find out below how she became a massive superstar that people knew her for today.

The pop star recently recalled her early beginnings in an episode of her program, "The Kelly Clarkson Show," when guest Kevin Bacon dropped by.

Clarkson reflected that back in 2002, she moved to Los Angeles, California, to try and shoot her shot at fame, but initially, she had to move in with "some random person" that she didn't know.

"Yeah, she just needed a roommate. I was like, 'I'll do it,' and I moved from Texas to L.A. with a random stranger," she explained. (via Today)

Later on, Bacon asked if how long Clarkson and her roommate stayed living together, to which the singer confirmed that things didn't end well at the place they resided at.

"It burned down, so yeah," the singer recalled, then revealed that she had to sleep in her vehicle as she needed a safe space.

"Then, I slept in my car for a few days and then tried out for a show called 'American Idol' so it all worked out," she added.

Kelly Clarkson went on to share a few words of wisdom about success, as she explained that people should really "got to want" their dreams and the universe will make them want them.

Bacon interjected and revealed that his start was not easy too as he used to sleep on his sister's couch in New York before he had his place, and he had a small budget before becoming a successful actor.

Surely enough, Kelly Clarkson went on to become one of the biggest musicians in the industry and she's not only known in the United States, but also around the world.

When she auditioned for "American Idol" in 2002, she became a crowd favorite, which led her to win the entire season. Following her victory, she signed under RCA Records.

As of 2023, as reported by Parade, Clarkson's net worth is estimated to be around $45 million.
