Donald Glover, better known as Childish Gambino, has been back in the recording studio, gearing up for his highly anticipated album.

"Another album soon," the multi-awarded artist simply said when asked about any upcoming projects next year.

"I'm actually in the studio. I've been bringing people in, like secret people, working on little things. I've been just making it for fun right now. But soon something will happen. I promise," he said in January at the Golden Globes.

The last album Glover released was back in March 2020, "3.15.20," more than three years ago, and since then, there has not been a single music release in sight--save for the collaborations.

Donald Glover Locks Lips Regarding New Material

Last October, the rapper slash producer also shared more details about the album, laughing away the fact that he was being so cryptic about it.

"You'll see. I know that's cryptic, but I swear to God... You know, I don't do this s**t for money and s**t," he said, noting why it takes him so long to release new material.

"There's a famous Cam'ron clip that me and my brother love. Cam is on the radio talking to Mase or somebody, and he says, 'Man, I do this because I'm nice. I don't need the money. I do this because I'm nice, man.' And I'm like, yeah, I do this because I'm nice."

Donald Glover Retiring?

According to reports, aside from talks about a new album, Glover has also announced that he plans to retire.

In the same interview, Glover confirmed new music, he was confronted with news of his retirement.

"Can we expect more music," asked Laverne Cox during the Golden Globes. "I hear there may be more music. I heard you retired Childish Gambino. What's going on with the music? The children want some music."

The actor slash writer then responded that he is taking it easy and enjoying the process of making music, but promised that he is working on new material.

Glover has four studio albums; he dropped his debut album 'Camp" in 2011, followed by his successful sophomore album "Because the Internet" in 2013, and the fan favorite "'Awaken, My Love!'" was released in 2016.

While his music career took more time, Glover focused on acting and producing. He starred in "Magix Mike XXL," "The Martian," "Spider-Man: Homecoming," "Solo: A Star Wars Story," "The Lion King," and more.
