Michael C. Hall has been trying to escape his role as television's most famous serial killer for years by taking on other acting jobs, as exemplified by The Hollywood Reporter's lede on the actor heading to Broadway to take the title role in Hedwig and The Angry Inch: "A serial killer is headed to Broadway, as Dexter star Michael C. Hall is next in line to don a wig and heels."

Regardless of how media outlets phrase it, the song remains the same: The actor will be the next to play the role of Broadway's most famous lead vocalist. The role of Hedwig, a transgender rocker in Germany, has had a nice collection of actors portraying her in the play's current run. Neil Patrick Harris earned a Tony nomination for his portrayal and he was followed by Andrew Rannells, who had just come off his run in The Book of Mormon

Neither of the first two actors are surprises however, as crowds are well familiar with their roles in musicals (and "Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog"). Does Hall have the chops for Broadway? He does in fact. Long before striking it big on television with Six Feet Under, the actor worked as Billy Flynn in the cast of Chicago during 2002 following his role as the Master of Ceremonies in Cabaret. He hasn't starred in a musical since becoming a household name however, although he did perform on Broadway in the drama The Realistic Joneses earlier in 2014.

Hall will take over the role of Hedwig beginning on October 16 and continue through January 4, 2015.
