Billy Joel is one of the many icons that Long Island, New York has ever had; which is why when he put up his mansion for sale for $49 million, everyone was sad to learn that he's leaving for someplace else.
However, Joel clarified that although he is putting up the property on the market, it doesn't mean he was leaving Long Island altogether!

The New York Post reported in May 2023 that Billy Joel had put up his Long Island Mansion up for sale.
Calling the sprawling manor the "Middlesea," Billy Joel attempts to sell the mansion where he lived for 20 years for $49 million.
Sources have revealed that he has since been renovating the property, which sits in the Long Island prime district, North Shore. He purchased the property for $22.5 million in 2002, which makes the current cost a real steal.
Back then he only purchased 14 acres, but the current listing says it has doubled up already.
The manor, which crawls under 2,000 feet of waterfront footage, and the main house with more than 20,000 square feet boast eight baths and five bedrooms.

Billy Joel Jokes About Long Island Mansion
When Billy Joel performed at the New Year's Eve celebration at the UBS Arena in Elmont, New York, he talked about leaving his Long Island Mansion.
Addressing growing concerns that he's leaving Long Island, Billy Joel had this to say.
"Just because I'm selling that house doesn't mean I'm leaving Long Island. I still have a house on Long Island," he joked. "I'm just gonna spend a little more time in Florida like old Jewish guys from Long Island do."
Page Six reported that Billy Joel had owned a residence in Manalapan, Florida. However, there are still reports that he's still eyeing other properties down South as he makes his relocation.
Meanwhile, some reports said that Billy Joel is holding his property longer after pulling it temporarily off the market as renovations continue and mortgages in the state roared.
