From performing in bars to sold-out arenas, 5 Seconds Of Summer has stuck together through thick and thin. The group has been together since 2011, but solidified a fanbase when they opened for hit-band One Direction, which has since disbanded. But, what keeps this group together?

The Australian pop-punk band has consistently released music throughout the years including their recent albums "The Feeling of Falling Upwards" and "5SOS5." It's clear that the foursome has found their target audience and clear sound, but that came with an inevitable amount of criticism including being named the "Worst Band" at the New Musical Express Awards.

It goes without saying that the group has gone through their fair share of life-changing events in the past decade. From pandemics, hiatuses, and solo albums, the group has seen it all. Guitarist and singer, Michael Clifford has welcomed a daughter with his 2021 bride Crystal Leigh Lauderdale. Lead singer, Luke Hemmings, is engaged to his long-term girlfriend, Sierra Deaton.

However with all these changes, the friends group has still remained diligent in their crafts, even becoming more relatable to their diverse audiences.

In an interview with People, the band explains how with each album the group is solidifying their sound and showing up for their fans. "It says that there's a lot of awareness into helping each other rise to the occasion of this being a very inclusive album. It says that this band is trying to achieve something that we as a band 10 years ago would only be dreaming of achieving," Hemmings, 25, tells PEOPLE.

He continued, "It shows a lot of hope for this band sticking around for as long as we can. Hopefully it shows that we're trying to just connect with people even after we've just finished touring the UK and Europe - and the kind of power that an art form can hold is something that we take very seriously. We put a lot of heart and soul into these in hopes that we connect with as many people as we can in a positive way."

It's unfathomable that 5SOS is still together, making music, touring and growing as individuals when many groups that gained popularity in the 2010s didn't have the same luxury. Back in 2014, there was hardly a time you wouldn't hear their hit-song "She Looks So Perfect." This band has grown with their fandom over the years. Through each album, EP or feature in popular television shows and movies it isn't unlikely that you will hear the group's music on the radio. The love of the music and each other is more than enough to keep the group together.
