Playboi Carti has new music for the new year, and it's a collaboration with Travis Scott. Double whammy.

The rapper's latest single, "Backr00ms," featuring fellow rapper Travis Scott, was released on January 1.

Carti and Scott alternately rap in front of an SUV tank in a decidedly low-fi video that also features footage of Carti giving a dancer money inside a dull office building.

The chorus goes: "In the middle of the field, throw me a bomb, I'm throwin' that bih like a quarterback/Standin' in the field, holdin' a bomb, throwin' that ho like a quarterback/Stood in the field, hold me a bomb, throwin' that ho like a quarterback."

Earlier on Monday morning, Carti and Scott made the collaboration official.

"Recently released music. Travis Scott, Carti. "I'm dropping [bleep] today," exclaimed British artist Blackhaine, his face covered in the words "9:30 Monday" and a stretched picture of the "Parental Advisory" symbol.

Scott wrote "OOBABTUS" as the post's caption. With the release of "Unlock It" with ABRA and "Miss the Rage" with Trippie Redd in 2021, this collaboration marks Carti's return to the music scene. This new song appears to be the first taste from the album he has been hinting at, called Music.

Additionally, Carti's producer F1lthy has hinted at upcoming songs from the "Magnolia" rapper. Last spring, in response to a XXL question about the title of his upcoming album, he said, "Music because that's all it is at this point."

2020 saw Carti release her most recent album, Whole Lotta Red, which included tracks with Future, Kanye West, and Kid Cudi. In addition, he moved the start date of his Antagonist Tour from January 14 in Salt Lake City to January 14, 2024.

This new song is the fourth collaboration between Scott and Carti.

Carti collaborated with Scott on Utopia's "Fein," and he rapped with her on 2018's "Love Hurts" off the album Die Lit. Additionally, Carti and Scott collaborated on 2017's "Green & Purple."

"'Fein' is the type of beat that's good enough for Playboi Carti to repeat himself eighty-two times over," the rapper's collaboration on Utopia was reviewed by Rolling Stone. At SoFi Stadium in November, during the Los Angeles Stop of his Circus Maximus tour, Scott invited Carti to perform a live version of "Fein."
