Taylor Swift saved herself from controversy when she and Matty Healy ended their brief romance.
Following her split from Joe Alwyn, Swift seemingly moved on with Healy years after they sparked similar dating rumors in 2014. At one point in their reported relationship, the then-couple musicians were pictured holding each other's hands in public.
It did not take them a long time to end the romance that abruptly started, and it was a positive move for Swift.
Taylor Swift Saved Herself From Controversies
Over the past few months, Healy has found himself in hot water for different reasons. First, The 1975 was banned in Malaysia after Healy kissed a bandmate onstage before criticizing the country's laws on LGBTQ.
The frontman closed the night an hour early after learning that the country banned the group.
Healy got involved in a new controversy when he opened up about the time he stimulated himself while watching NSFW videos of "brutalized women."
PR expert Kieran Elsby said Swift and Healy's breakup saved the "Look What You Made Me Do" singer from controversy.
"With Matty's past comments I felt it was only a matter of when they split," he said. "Of course, Taylor couldn't say much when in a relationship, but sections of her fanbase were concerned."
Elsby added why he does not think the split was a PR stunt, though he believes Swift's public image played a huge role in it. The "Lover" singer's PR team sighed a breath of relief after the breakup as the relationship left her relatively untouched and undamaged by Healy's bombshell comments.

Why Did Taylor Swift and Matty Healy Split?
Media outlets said they broke up due to their busy schedules. However, there were rumors they were not compatible with each other or the fan wars affected their relationship.
For instance, The Sun said Swift initiated the split because of the pressure she received from her fans. At that time, Swifties published an open letter to express their disapproval of the romance and shared the multiple controversies Healy got into that made him undeserving of Swift.
It cited a post shared on Reddit in which a fan said, "I just cannot fathom why she would throw away all of her goodwill, all of her positive focus on her success for someone as awful as (Healy)."
They also shared another letter to tell Swift Healy was not good enough for her.
