In the past few years, there has been a huge trend on television and films where they reintroduce songs from the past decades to illicit nostalgia among their viewers.

One of the most recent testaments to this trend was Emerald Fennell's "Saltburn" and its impact on Sophie Ellis-Bextor's "Murder On The Dancefloor," which recently earned its biggest streaming day on Spotify.

For those who haven't watched Emerald Fennell's sensational movie "Saltburn," it's a required watch so that one can understand how important this feat is.

Sophie Ellis-Bextor's "Murder On The Dancefloor" wasn't widely used in the whole duration of the film, but was only played by Barry Keoghan's Oliver Quick at the pivotal end of the film.

A naked Oliver Quick dances to the iconic 2001 hit by Ellis-Bextor as he tours the whole Saltburn mansion and he becomes the official heir of the property following Rosamund Pike's character, Elspeth Catton's death.

As expected, the scene made waves on social media, as it highlighted the questionable triumph of Keoghan's character, and because of the innate eccentricity and dynamism of the film.

Speaking to People Magazine about the usage of the song in the film, Ellis-Bextor wasn't actually sure how it would be used and fit into the story.

"I didn't really know exactly how it would play in terms of the role it was in the movie until I saw it at the screening, but I absolutely loved it," she confessed. "I think it's such a clever, funny, smart film. I really enjoyed it."

Ellis-Bextor had met Keoghan after watching the film and said that they had a "giggle" talking about it.

"I mean, he's never going to be able to hear that in the same way again," she happily gushed. "And every time he's out and that comes on, people are going to think he's going to strip off!"
