Kelly Clarkson is controlling her children's screen time as she recently revealed her most recent parenting preference.

Clarkson has been raising her children, Remy Alexander and River Rose by herself after her divorce from ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock.

Kelly Clarkson Bans Her Children From Social Media

According to a People Magazine interview, Kelly Clarkson is not letting her children, 9-year-old daughter River Rose and 7-year-old son Remy Alexander from social media anytime soon.

"That can be really hard on kids in general but especially kids with parents in the public eye," she explained. "So I have informed them they're not allowed to, under my roof, ever have [it]."

However, Clarkson says that enforcing these rules came with difficulty, especially since she and her ex-husband Brandon Blackstock are different.

"It's hard enough when you're married and come from two different backgrounds and ways to discipline and educate," she elaborated. "Doing that in different households can be tough."

At one point, River asked her what if her father let her on social media.

I'm like, 'Well, you're there four days a month. Enjoy that.' And right now he's not letting them do it either," Clarkson responded. "I'll listen when they're older, but until they have a solid argument, it's a no."

Since splitting in 2020, Clarkson and Blackstock have been co-parenting their children, and the "American Idol" alum confessed to the hardship that comes with the complex setup.

"It's harder at first," she described. "There's so much emotion and trauma involved," adding that it "can be hard on [herself]" but she believes that she has been doing "a pretty good job."

"I'm definitely not a helicopter mom. I like that they're independent, but I'm adamant about my schedule, making sure I'm there as much as I can be," she admitted. "There's no perfect parent; I'm definitely screwing up my children somehow! But I'm doing my best."

Kelly Clarkson Depressed After Divorce

Kelly Clarkson has been very public about the aftermath of her divorce from Brandon Blackstock.

In the same People Magazine interview, she confessed that working on her album, "Chemistry," has been really helpful.

"I cannot express how appreciative I feel for having that kind of healthy outlet. Because the level of depression and things that come with divorce or grieving is extraordinarily hard. You feel alone, and it's just a blessing to be able to have that outlet for those emotions that are overwhelming," she revealed.
