"Saltburn" is one of the most talked-about movies in the past few months. Having it available on streaming services has had a huge effect on the film and everyone's reception of it.

A huge discernable effect that the film has brought was the streaming surge it has caused on its chosen music on the film.

'Saltburn' Effect: 'Murder On The Dancefloor' Renaissance

On the first Billboard Hot 100 chart of 2024 without Christmas and holiday songs, Sophie Ellis-Bextor's "Murder On The Dancefloor" finally arrived at the Hot 100 chart 23 years after it was released. (via Billboard)

"Murder On The Dancefloor" placed No. 98 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts, its highest placement on the charts yet. The song surged in streaming after it was used at the closing scene of the film where Barry Keoghan's Oliver danced gleefully in the Saltburn mansion.

TikTok played a huge part in this streaming surge as it spurred plenty of remakes using the said track, with Ellis-Bextor even doing a TikTok video out of it.

Over to the United Kingdom, Official Charts Company announced that the song was bound for Top 40 again for the first time in 22 years. The last time it appeared on the chart was in 2002.

Initially, Ellis-Bextor wasn't sure how it would be placed in the film when she gave consent for its usage.

"I didn't really know exactly how it would play in terms of the role it was in the movie until I saw it at the screening, but I absolutely loved it," she confessed to People Magazine. "I think it's such a clever, funny, smart film. I really enjoyed it."

The British singer even met Keoghan after watching the film and said that they had a "giggle" talking about the now-iconic last part.

"I mean, he's never going to be able to hear that in the same way again," she happily gushed. "And every time he's out and that comes on, people are going to think he's going to strip off!"
