Selena Gomez, Linda Ronstadt Chilling Similarities Explored After Biopic Casting Announced

Selena Gomez has been cast in the Linda Ronstadt biopic as Linda Ronstadt.

With the thrilling announcement, fans have spotted a chilling similarity between the two artists.

According to The Great Eastern Music website, Selena Gomez will be channeling every rock fiber inside her body to play the great Linda Ronstadt.

"The long-rumored Linda Ronstadt biopic is now up-and-running. Selena Gomez is attached to play Linda," the announcement said. "The two recently spent a few hours at Linda's home discussing the project and getting to know each other."

As of this writing, there are no other people that have been cast yet. However, the film will be produced by Ronstadt's manager, John Boylan and James Keach, who both produced the 2019 documentary, "Linda Ronstadt: The Sound of My Voice."

Earlier this week, Gomez teased the casting when she shared a photo of herself reading Ronstadt's memoir, "Simple Dreams" on her Instagram story.

Selena Gomez, Linda Ronstadt Similarities Explored

To start off, they are both of Mexican descent and Ronstadt's younger face looks pretty much similar to Selena Gomez.

In a 2015 appearance at "On Air with Ryan Seacrest," Gomez revealed that she has received comments saying that she looks like her.

"I always used to get told that I look like her, and I started listening to her music because of that," she told Seacrest at the time.

Many have also echoed the sentiment that they both look alike.

Fans Skeptical Of Selena Gomez's Acting?

Meanwhile, some can't help but be skeptical whether Selena Gomez could pull off the part.

"Interesting, I've seen Selena in comedic acting roles and thought she did well. I'm very interested because this is gonna be in a more serious moment. If I'm correct and based on the article this is authorized from Ronstadt," one pointed out.

"I'm glad they actually chose a woman of Mexican descent to play her (someone on another chat said they wanted Samantha Barks to play her when... Samantha is a white Brit) and Linda has already given her blessings. If Selena can pull it off, then I'm looking forward to this," another commented.

"Yes they look similar. But selena is not that good of an actress to pull it off lets see how it comes out," someone said.
