Foo Fighters has teased that its new album Sonic Highways has some big name guests and now two rock legends (one old, one new) have been confirmed as collaborators. In a new interview, the "Everlong" band announced that Death Cab For Cutie's Ben Gibbard and the Eagles' Joe Walsh appear on the record.

In a new interview with British music magazine NME, Foo Fighters bassist Nate Mendel spilled the beans about two of the Sonic Highways guest stars.

"We wrote the bulk of the songs back in Los Angeles, so it was more of a matter of experiencing each place learning about the studio and then bringing in guest musicians," he said. "In Seattle we had Ben Gibbard from Death Cab For Cutie. In the desert outside Los Angeles it was Joe Walsh from the Eagles for a classic southern California feel - and, sure enough, suddenly our song has layers of 'Hotel California' in it."

As is apt to happen with big name guest musicians, Mendel admitted that their fellow rockers helped to influence the sound of Sonic Highways, creating a standard Foo Fighters albums with a few twists and deviations along the way.

"They're fairly straight forward Foo Fighters songs and almost every one of them takes a left turn and goes off on some psychic odyssey with guest musicians in the middle. There are a few elements that are looser than traditional Foo Fighters moments," he said.

Foo Fighters' new album Sonic Highways is due to be released on Nov. 10. The album will be preceded by an HBO docu-series of the same name, which will feature Dave Grohl and co. traveling to legendary recording studios across the United States to make the album. The TV Show Sonic Highways will debut on Oct. 17.
