Many of us didn't pay attention to the Canadian election. We didn't much care about the overreach of Prime Minister Stephen Harper, or the cast of characters that was running for his chair. That is, of course, until John Oliver enlightened us on "Last Week Tonight." The election was decided on Oct. 19, with Justin Trudeau, son of famed Canadian politician and intellectual Pierre Trudeau, coming out on top. However, despite his reputation as being somewhat awkward and stiff, former prime minister candidate Thomas Mulcair showed the world a side of him they had yet to see as he danced to Drake's "Hotline Bling," sweater and all. As Huffington Post reports, Mulcair appears in a teaser for CBC of Canada.
This came days before Mulcair is set to address the NDP (New Democratic Party) caucus on Wednesday, Nov. 4. Many anticipate that the politician will speak of electoral reform, environmental issues, and missing and murdered aboriginal women, topics he spoke frequently about during his campaign.
Mulcair's isn't the only unexpected celebrity to parody Drake's instantly viral "Hotline Bling" video. In the United States, our resident liberal spokesman has taken a similar path. You can see Bernie Sanders dancing to the popular song below.
