Gucci Mane keeps the post-jail releases coming with a new album Woptober. The LP was actually supposed to be released on Oct. 17, but he couldn't wait any longer and dropped it late yesterday. The 13-track project is his second since he was released from prison five months ago and is light on features, only tabbing Rick Ross and Young Dolph for additional verses.
He said in a series of Tweets that this album would be "hard and "aggressive" and he was not kidding. One of the hardest songs on the album comes right at the top, "The Left," which talks about dispatching his haters and enemies with a strong left hand.
"Please don't make me slap you with the left, the left / You a fake so I'm gon' dap you with the left, the left," he warns in the hook.
"Bling Blaww Burr" goes after materialist women who only sleep with men who have money, though the title wouldn't really suggest that.
Though the album is aggressive and street-driven, he does show his soft side on "Love Her Body." Speaking to some woman, he admits to loving a woman, though he isn't sure if it is she or her body.
"Girl you're more than beautiful you put your trust in me / Know I keep that blammer on me, know I'm your security / Girl you got me invested in you, this is our community / Thankful for this opportunity, treat you like family," he says in the first verse.
There aren't many features, but Rick Ross comes in and adds a clever verse on "Money Machine."
He gets very personal on the last track "Addicted," where he faced his own addition to "bad b*tches, fast cars, weed and promethazine" and his recovery from all of those things.
Familiar faces in Zaytoven, London On Da Track, Metro Boomin, Southside, Da Honorable C.N.O.T.E. and more lay down familiar beats for Gucci to go in over.
