A month after the death of frontman Chester Bennington, Linkin Park announced that a public memorial service will be held in Los Angeles. Using several social media platforms to express their plan, the nu metal band will be providing more details as soon as possible.

As reported by People, Linkin Park also takes the opportunity to thank their fans all over the world for the love that they have given the band. This statement is also one of the few Linkin Park has given since the loss of Bennington, as the band opted to be silent and cancelled shows after Bennington's death.

Other musicians paid their respects to Chester, as well as fans of the band worldwide. Jay-Z performed their famous collaboration track "Numb/Encore" at the V-Festival in England, while Chris Martin of Coldplay did a rendition of Linkin Park's "Crawling" for a New Jersey show.

A private service was held on July 29th, placing the late singer's remains at the South Coast Botanical Garden in Palos Verdes Estates, California. Linkin Park band mates Mike Shinoda and Joe Hahn provided eulogies for the event, along with Ryan Shuck of Dead by Sunrise, Bennington's side-project band.

On the other hand, Samantha Bennington, ex-wife of the late Linkin Park frontman, expressed disgust on the private service. According to Rolling Stone, Samantha claims that the service focused only on the Chester's life as a celebrity, and that she was barred from providing a speech for her ex-husband. She even implied that Chester's widow, Talinda, has not treated Draven, Chester and Samantha's son, equally.

The Linkin Park frontman was found dead in his Palos Verdes Estates home on July 20th. According to the reports, Bennington committed suicide, though no drugs were found on the scene. The unexpected loss prompted Linkin Park to cancel the "One More Light" tour's North American leg, which was scheduled to start on July 27th in Mansfield, Massachusetts.
