Beach Boys singer Brian Wilson confirmed the tragic passing of his wife of 28 years, Melinda Ledbetter. She was 77.

Brian took to his social media pages to confirm Melinda's death and how heartbroken he has been since the loss. He also noted how he and their five children are "in tears and lost" following Melinda's passing.

Brian shared his statement on Instagram and X, sharing a photo of his beloved wife.

"Melinda was more than my wife. She was my savior," he wrote. "She gave me the emotional security I needed to have a career. She encouraged me to make the music that was closest to my heart. She was my anchor. She was everything for us. Please say a prayer for her."

The message also included a message from their children, disclosing that Melinda died peacefully at their home. They called her a "force of nature" and "one of the strongest women" who was empowered by her spirit.

While the loss left them greatly heartbroken, Brian and Melinda's children said the matriarch taught them to find beauty in darkness and how to live their lives with pride and honesty.

Details about the funeral and memorial are yet to be released.

The Beach Boys singer's colleagues and fans extended their love and support to the bereaved family during this trying time in their lives.

Graham Nash's official Instagram page wrote, "I'm deeply sorry for your loss, Brian, and for the terrible hurt you are all feeling. My heart, love, and prayers are with you and your family."

"Our thoughts are with you and your family, Brian. So deeply sorry to hear of your loss. My deepest condolences," one fan said.

"I'm so very sorry to hear this news, Brian," Brian Ray said. "She was a very special person and you were very lucky to have each other."

Brian and Melinda tied the knot in 1995 and adopted their children Dakota Rose, Daria Rose, Delanie Rose, Dylan and Dash in the years thereafter. The couple dated on and off for three years after meeting in 1986.

Their love story was immortalized in the 2014 biopic "Love & Mercy" starring John Cusack and Elizabeth Banks.
