Ace Frehley could have been part of the KISS' final show, but it never happened because of one thing.

Frehley left KISS for the first time in 1992 before rejoining in 1996 for a reunion tour and staying until 2002. He returned to the group again in 2017 for a fundraising show for the victims of Hurricane Harvey, and then he left for good in 2019 following a public spat.

He reportedly wished he could be part of the band's final show in 2023, but it did not happen.

Ace Frehley Wanted To Join KISS' Final Show

In his recent interview with Rock Candy Magazine, Frehley told writer Andrew Daly why he failed to shop up one last time with KISS during the final show.

"Fans would constantly reach out to me and say, 'Ace, please come back to the band,'" he disclosed. "So the fans were and are my primary motivators, and I want them to know that I did try, but I couldn't make it happen. They never asked me."

According to Frehley, there was no way Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley would refuse to reach out to him because of his troubles and battles with drugs and alcohol since he has since become sober.

Per the former KISS member, he reached the point in life where the substances took over him, and he reportedly felt happy again after going away from all of those.

He continued, "I want people to know that I do love Paul and Gene. I wish things would have been different, but it wasn't to be. [Tommy Thayer, Frehley's replacement] is a good guy and deserves a break," Ace said. "He's not me, but he was never going to be me. In a lot of ways, his task was impossible."

Why Did Ace Frehley Leave KISS?

Frehley has been open about his departure from KISS. In one of his interviews in 2020, he told Rock Talk With Mitch Lafon that his bandmates being workaholics stole the fun in the band.

"That was much more creative from those guys. I knew within a few years that I'll be leaving the group to form up my own band - and so far, so good, one day at a time," he went on.

After his stint with KISS, Frehley formed his band Frehley's Comet and released two albums under that banner.
