KISS wrapped up its End of the Road Tour at Madison Square Garden, but it was not really the band's end.

After months of touring, KISS finished the farewell tour, which led fans to wonder whether the band would disband afterward. But far from what they braced themselves for, KISS shared how the members could continue performing together in the next coming years - through AI.

KISS Debuts AI Version

The Associated Press confirmed in a report that KISS' current lineup received the digital avatars of themselves to perform "God Gave Rock and Roll to You" during the show's encore. The presentation served as a sign of what the future holds for the band.

Industrial Light & Magic, George Lucas' special-effects company, created KISS members' AI version in collaboration with the Pophouse Entertainment Group. The companies were also the ones behind the digital avatar version of ABBA, which aimed to allow the bands to perform for eternity with the technology as it can play the same show of a certain band simultaneously in different places.

With the AI debut, KISS and its members - Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons, Tommy Thayer and Eric Singer - became the first band to go virtual.

"What we've accomplished has been amazing, but it's not enough. The band deserves to live on because the band is bigger than we are," Stanley said. "It's exciting for us to go the next step and see Kiss immortalized."

Simmons, meanwhile, added, "We can be forever young and forever iconic by taking us to places we've never dreamed of before. The technology is going to make Paul jump higher than he's ever done before."

Ace Frehley Says KISS Is Not Done

Following the farewell trek, Frehley said KISS might not be ending its touring career in reality.

"How many times have they said they were gonna retire? How many times have half a dozen groups said they were gonna retire and still come back? Personally, I don't know what their plans are," the guitarist told SiriusXM radio host Eddie Trunk.

Frehley, who has since left KISS after the band's 2001 Farewell Tour, added that he felt happy he was not involved in the trek. The guitarist prepares for the arrival of his first solo album, "10,000 Volts," in 2024.
