"The Devil Wears Prada" is one of those movies that people recognize easily because of its iconic casting and storyline. Good news for fans of this 2000s chick flick as it is getting a musical treatment in West End!

According to Billboard, it has been announced that Vanessa Williams will play the iconic role of the "devil" editor-in-chief of Runway Magazine, Miranda Priestly, which was originally portrayed by Meryl Streep.

Taking to her official Instagram account, the actress/singer shared a video of herself embodying the character holding a bag, a blazer, and a copy of Runway Magazine.

"Don't just sit there, buy tickets or something," she said in the short clip.

'The Devil Wears Prada' The Musical

The upcoming musical was based off the bestselling novel and the iconic 2006 film which originally starred Streep, who was nominated for an Oscar in 2007 for her role, as Miranda Priestly, and her newly-hired assistant Andy Sachs, played by Anne Hathaway.

The musical adaptation will launch this October at the Dominion Theater in London, the United Kingdom. The upcoming shows are already iconic on its own, but fans will have to look forward to its music as the original score is being composed by Elton John.

Lyrics are written by Shaina Taub while choreography is by Jerry Mitchell, a Tony-award winning personality who worked on iconic musicals like "Hairspray," "Kinky Boots," and more.

Is Vanessa Williams Fit to Play the Role?

Vanessa Williams is an experienced singer and actress. The role of Miranda Priestly is fitting for her as she already played a character of an editor of a magazine.

She previously starred as Wilhelmina Slater under the company MODE in the ABC series "Ugly Betty" for four years. At the time, she earned three Primetime Emmy nominations.

In addition, she also has a great track record when it comes to charts because her song, "Save the Best for Last," dominated the Billboard Hot 100 for five weeks in 1992.

As of this writing, "The Devil Wears Prada The Musical" has yet to share the official cast members, and fans will have to wait which actors will portray the main characters Andrea Sachs, Emily Charlton, Nigel, Nate, and many more.
