Amy Grant proudly shared her journey back to recovering her full health after surviving a fatal bike accident in 2022, which includes several issues that affect her daily life and even her music career.

"I still have issues with my short-term memory. My balance is still weird," the "Breath of Heaven" singer told E! News, before sharing how she manages through it all.

"I made a joke about it last night. You know, sometimes I walk around like I'm drunk and I just have to laugh about all of it."

Grant was left with a traumatic brain injury and memory loss; she also remains unsure whether she plans to get back on a bike anytime soon, noting that there are other sports she can consider.

"I don't know if I'll get back on a bike. There's so many great sports to enjoy and so... who knows."

Amy Grant Relearns Singing

Aside from her bike accident, Grant also found out that she had a cyst growing in her throat.

"[I was] working with a vocalist and she said, 'What is happening in your throat? Lean your head back,'" the singer recalled. "And I said, 'I know. It's like I've got an Adam's apple that keeps getting bigger.' Unbeknownst to me, I'd had a thyroglossal duct cyst."

According to reports, on top of her bike accident, the singer also had to undergo a five-hour-long surgery to remove the cyst from her throat.

"I actually had to learn to sing again," Grant revealed. "I just felt like an old, beat-up car that went in and got a paint job and had the dents knocked out."

Amy Grant's Recovery From Bike Accident

Aside from the injuries caused by the bike accident and the cyst, Grant has a rare genetic condition called partial anomalous pulmonary venous return or PAPVR).

This condition happens when the lung blood vessels are attached to the wrong place in the heart, the Mayo Clinic noted.

Despite the numerous health issues that came her way, the "Every Heartbeat" hitmaker remains positive and happy.

"I feel fantastic," she told TODAY in February 2023. "I mean, really from 2020 on, I feel like I had to, if I were a car, I've made a lotta trips to the shop. And I feel like I'm emerging. I went, 'Oh man, I feel like a classic now.' And actually sort of re-revved up in a really beautiful way."
